Emergency Supply Kits
Please prepare an emergency kit for your child, and have them bring it with them to the open house, or the first day of school. The purpose of this kit is to ensure your child has supplies necessary in the event of an emergency (e.g., earthquake, snow-in) which require him/her to remain at school an extended period of time.
Recommended supplies for emergency kits
- 3 small cans of juice or juice boxes (not Capri Sun, they leak and /or ferment)
- 2 small cans of beans, macaroni and cheese or spaghetti (with pull tab lids only)
- 1 small box of cereal
- 1 Fruit roll-up
- 3 Plastic spoons
- 2 Large plastic garbage bags
- 1 Small can of pudding
- Dried fruit, raisins or unsalted nuts
- A picture of your family with a note.
- Emergency (space) blanket. These are very compact & made of a light weight material (like Mylar). They can be found in sporting goods or camping sections of stores.
Instructions
- Please choose food items within these guidelines.
- Place all items in a 1 gallon size zip lock bag.
- Place students name on the inside of the bag.
- Please control sugar content to a reasonable level to prevent thirst. It is likely that there will be limited water for drinking.
- These packs will be stored at school and returned to the students on the last day of school
- Reminder: When choosing canned meals, please remember that they will be served cold.
